From Manila Bulletin:
Going international on ABC: Sam Milby isn’t saying yet, but knowledgeable sources claim the drama actor is close to clinching a contract to act in a program to be produced by the US network, ABC.The singer-actor has reportedly read for the part while on a concert tour in the United States recently. Sam has of late been hinting of a potential assignment in Hollywood, although he has wisely downplayed the subject.
Being Fil-American, who looks more American than Filipino, it isn’t surprising if, indeed, the actor lands on US TV. If and when he really does, even ABS-CBN would certainly understand as the feat would be a first for a Filipino actor.
Sam’s management is, however, worried about their commitment to do the high-society teleserye, “Alta,” whose production has been halted several times. The teleserye has a powerhouse cast composed of Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban, KC Concepcion, Derek Ramsay, Luis Manzano and Sam Milby.
Sam had been our guest recently during an Inkblots journalism seminar held Oct. 13 to 15 at the UST and sponsored by The Varsitarian student newspaper. During a mock press conference, the actor addressed issues surrounding his life and career before an audience of over 250 student writers from different parts of the country.
Asked by a student journalist from Surigao why he had not been visible on soap operas, the actor candidly admitted his last series, “Idol,” didn’t do very well. He said he’s focused on promoting a new album, “Be Mine,” whose carrier is an OPM tune called “Hindi Kita Iiwan.” “Be Mine” is Sam’s fourth album under Star Records which earlier released the albums Sam Milby, “Love Duets” (with Toni Gonzaga), and “A Little Too Perfect.”
Another student journalist, this time from Metro Manila, asked him if he had seen Anne Curtis in “No Other Woman.” Sam replied he had not seen the film, but would rather watch it on video later. He admitted his biggest heartache had been with Anne.
