Gretchen Barretto recently revealed that taping for the upcoming teleserye Alta will start next week, beginning October 19. Other stars in the teleserye are Angelica Panganiban, KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, Luis Manzano, and Zanjoe Marudo.

Gretchen described her role as, “Isang anak mayaman but merong twist, so challenging ‘yon kasi hindi naman talaga ako anak mayaman sa totoong buhay.”

With her sophisticated stature, Gretchen was asked if she feels that her role in Alta will be effortless. “Walang madali na role na ibibigay sa akin,” she clarified. “Kasi I want to give my best as an actor.Kailangan walang hindi madali para ma-enjoy ng tao.Gusto ko ibang Gretchen ang makita nila and of course alam na alam nila na magaling si Angelica and of course, si KC. Nag-workshop kami, magaling si KC so I’m very proud and I believe we are ready to work.”

The actress refused to go into detail when asked how their workshops went. “Whatever happened in the workshop stays in the workshop,” she related. She said that she admires her fellow actresses who are eager to excel in their craft and she was able to know them on a deeper level. “I love [each of] them as a person and I’m excited to work with them.”

Gretchen Barretto on her so-called "intimidating presence": "Parati nilang sinasabi na nai-intimidate sila. Ewan ko ba kung bakit. Bakit ba? Malakas ba ang dating ko?"

On her Alta co-stars Angelica Panganiban and KC Concepcion: "What I can say is that she [KC] is hungry to be a good actress and that is a good thing. That is a good thing. And nakilala ko si KC and si Angelica through the workshop and I love them. I love them as a person. And I'm excited to work with them. Na bukod sa maganda sila. Bukod sa totoong tao sila... a, normal din silang tao. Hindi lang sila mga artista na puro palamuti, pero they have depth. At mero'n rin karanasan sa buhay."

Isang nakangiting Gretchen Barretto and dumating sa Baume and Mercier timepieces press conference kanina, a few minutes before 8 p.m. sa Fashion Walk ng Glorietta 5, Makati.

She was her usual glamorous self. "Blooming," ang comment sa kanya ng isang kasamahang entertainment writer.

Pagkatapos ng short program, nagpaunlak na agad si Gretchen ng interview.

Una nang tinanong sa kanya ang pagkabanggit ng kanyang pangalan sa isang very memorable at quotable line sa No Other Woman na paulit-ulit naririnig tuwing ipapakita ang trailer ng nasabing movie.

Ito ang dialogue ni Carmi Martin sa kanyang anak played by Cristine Reyes that goes: "I-pack up mo na si Lucy Torres. Ilabas mo na si Gretchen Barretto. Ako na ang bahala sa red stilletos mo!"

Meaning, si Greta (palayaw ni Gretchen) ang ginawang simbolo ng isang palabang babae.

"Naging inspirasyon ko din ang No Other Woman," sabi ng aktres.

"After watching that movie, No Other Woman, sabi ko, a, panahon na talaga na lumaban in many ways.

"Ang laban hindi naman puro tarayan at murahan [lang], but in many other ways."

Para kay Gretchen, compliment ang paggamit sa kanyang pangalan sa dialogue sa movie.

"Sabi nga nila naka-arrive ka na daw pag ginamit ang pangalan mo [sa dialogue sa movies].

"I said, 'Oh, thank you very much.'"

BEFRIENDING CRISTINE REYES. Natanong ang isa sa mga bida ng No Other Woman na si Cristine Reyes kung puwede raw ba niyang maging kaibigan si Gretchen Barretto.

Sagot daw ni Cristine ay mukhang di siya bagay mapalapit kay Greta dahil tingin niya ay "mataas" ito at "sosyal." Di raw gaya niya na "jologs."

"Ay naku, natutuwa ako sa mga jologs!" natatawa namang sabi ni Greta.

"Gusto ko rin matuto ng gano'n. Para maiba.

"At least I can learn from her."

ALTA. Sunod na kinumusta ang pagsisimula ng teleseryeng Alta na medyo matagal na ring napapabalita.

"Sa 19 [this October], magsu-shooting na ko," maagap na sabi ni Gretchen tungkol sa bago niyang proyekto sa ABS-CBN.

Excited ang mga tao na malaman kung ano ang magiging role niya sa Alta. Mahirap ba ang role niya or light lang?

"Walang madaling role na ibibigay sa 'kin because I want to give my best as an actor," sagot ni Gretchen.

"An as an actor, kailangan ang role mo hindi madali.

"Para ma-enjoy ng tao, gusto ko ibang Gretchen ang makita nila. All facets ang makita nila.

"And of course, alam natin na magaling na magaling si Angelica [Panganiban].

"And of course si KC [Concepcion]. Nag-workshop kami, magaling si KC. I'm very proud and I believe we're ready to work."

Ang Alta ay tungkol sa buhay ng mga nasa mataas na antas ng lipunan, or alta-sosyedad. Mayaman ba siya sa Alta, o mahirap?

"Alta ako. Isang anak-mayaman but mero'ng mga twists.

"So, challenging yun kasi di naman talaga ako anak-mayaman sa totoong buhay," pahayag ng aktres.

FIRST WITH THEM. Bukod kina Angelica at KC, makakasama niya rin sa Alta sina Sam Milby, Zanjoe Marudo, at Luis Manzano.

"I'm very excited first because I'm gonna be working with Sam," sambit niya.

"It's gonna be fresh. First time I'm gonna be working with Sam and with Luis and with Zanjoe.

"So, exciting."

KNOWING KC AND ANGELICA. Tanong ng isang kasamahan sa press kung ano ang naramdaman niya with KC during the workshop.

"A, whatever happens in the workshop, stays in the workshop. Workshopper ako ng isang taon, so I respect that.

"What I can say is that she [KC] is hungry to be a good actress and that is a good thing. That is a good thing.

"And nakilala ko si KC and si Angelica through the workshop and I love them. I love them as a person. And I'm excited to work with them.

"Na bukod sa maganda sila. Bukod sa totoong tao sila... a, normal din silang tao.

"Hindi lang sila mga artista na puro palamuti, pero they have depth.

Pero ano ang masasabi niya na medyo naiilang daw sina Angelica at KC pag kasama nila si Greta?

"Bakit ba? Malakas ba ang dating ko?" balik-tanong ni Gretchen.

"We will have a great time, I promised them," naka-smile namang patuloy nito.

Nahirapan ba siya sa kanilang workshop?

"Alam mo as a workshopper, dapat walang mahirap na eksena.

"I would call it a challenging role. Pero, sa dami ng karanasan namin sa buhay, I'm sure... a, marami kaming magagamit na in store para sa Alta.

"So, you'll have something to look forward to."

OTHER PROJECTS? Kung may offer ba for her to do an indie movie, tatanggapin niya?

"That's really far out for now because of the schedules.

"And I cannot join Cinemalaya for the simple reason that Tony [Boy Cojuangco, her partner] heads Cinemalaya and it's unfair that I join it.

"But I would love to join," dire-diretsong sagot niya.

Plano ba niyang magkaroon uli ng record album?

"Far out pa ang album ngayon. I'm so into acting right now.

"So, ang una ko, Unexpected... Complicated. The next, Disappointed?" biro pa niya sabay tawa.

"Or, a... Fooled? Di ba?

"I don't know if my next album is Fooled!" tawa niya nang malakas sunod ang kanyang pasalamat sa amin at pagpapaalam.

After having only three pineapple slices for breakfast, Sam Milby jumped right into military training for his upcoming teleserye Muling Buksan ang Puso (formerly entitled Alta). The Kapamilya heartthrob, along with Luis Manzano, his co-star in the teleserye, underwent the first leg of their training today. Both Luis and Sam were under the supervision of Staff Seargent Pasco, who gave them a couple of drill exercises. Together with a group of second lieutenants, the hunks learned how to march and salute properly under the heat of the sun.

“Nasa army ang ate ko, staff seargent sya, she was in the army for seven or eight years so may idea ako about the training,” he shared. “The stuff I learned today ay mga basic movements. I found it harder than expected kasi talagang mahigpit ang drill sergeant, dapat eksakto ang position ng bawat parte ng katawan,” he added. The training became harder when he felt itchy and wanted to scratch his face but couldn’t because if he did, the sergeant would order him to do a couple of push-ups as punishment.

Sam clarified that he doesn’t play a military man in Muling Buksan ang Puso, but he was asked to undergo the training to be more disciplined and to improve his posture. The actor revealed that he is set to portray the rich brother of the characters of Luis Manzano and Gretchen Barretto. They are scheduled to start taping come October.

According to Sam, the boys in the dramaserye are required to undergo military training.

However, Sam wasn’t able to provide further details about his role because they haven’t started taping yet. “Three months ago dapat nag-start na kami mag-taping ng Alta after nung movie namin ni KC (Concepcion) pero hindi ko alam kung bakit may delay,” he revealed. “Siguro dahil busy sa ibang shows and revisions ng script. We’re just waiting pa rin pero alam ko tuloy. I’ve already done a workshop with Direk Laurice (Guillen)”

Sam explained that he isn’t bothered by the taping delays because he is busy promoting his new album Be Mine and is also spending time with his sister and niece who are based in the United States and are slated to go back to America in a few weeks’ time. “At least I have more time to spend with them habang hindi pa ako busy sa pag-gawa ng teleserye. Happy ako na kasama yung pamangkin ko sa bahay. Kahit na puyat ako galing work gusto ko pa rin makipaglaro sa kanya,” he ended.

Pagkatapos ng teleseryengIdol with Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin at ng pelikulangForever And A Day with KC Concepcion, marami ang nakakapansin na parang hindi na ganung ka-visible ang actor-singer na si Sam Milby.

Sa ngayon, ang regular show lang ni Sam ay ang Sunday musical-variety show ng ABS-CBN na ASAP Rocks.

ALTA. Marami sa mga tagahanga ni Sam ang naghihintay sa pagbabalik niya sa paggawa ng teleserye.

Kasama si Sam sa cast ng matagal nang napapabalitang teleserye ng ABS-CBN, ang Alta. Pero hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin ito nasisimulan.

May usap-usapan na shelved na diumano ang seryeng ito, bagay na agad namang nilinaw ni Sam sa panayam sa kanya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

"Ang alam ko, dapat three months ago, dapat nag-start na kami right after ng movie namin ni KC.

"Pero hindi ko alam kung bakit na-delay. Siguro dahil busy sa ibang shows ang iba naming kasama and revisions na rin ng script.

"We're just waiting pa, pero alam ko tuloy.

"Nag-workshop ako isang beses with Direk Laurice [Guillen] and Zanjoe [Marudo], yun pa lang preparations namin.

"Ang alam ko, kaming boys, magte-training kami ng military. That's something new for me kasi wala pa akong ganitong role before.

"Alam naman ng lahat na tuloy lang talaga pag nag-grind na yung mga camera.

"Pero as my understanding, yes, tuloy ang Alta," sabi ni Sam.

Pero para kay Sam, blessing in disguise ang pagkakaantala ng taping ng Alta.Nagbakasyon kasi recently dito sa Pilipinas ang pamilya niya and he was given a chance to spend time with them.

"Hindi pa kami nag-uumpisa. Mag-i-start kami beginning of October.

"But mabuti naman yun kasi malaking soap ang Alta and nandito ang ate at pamangkin ko. My mom left last Monday.

"Maganda na nandito sila na hindi pa nag-start yung Alta."

SAM'S LATEST ALBUM. Sa ngayon ay may bagong album si Sam, ang Be Mine, under Star Records. May original composition siya rito at karamihan ng songs ay puro original.

"Ang ganda ng bagong album ko kasi puro originals, dalawa lang ang remake dito—'All My Life,' theme song ng movie namin ni KC, and 'I Love You So.'

"Yung iba, like 'Hindi Kita Iiwan,' si Jonathan Manalo ang sumulat.

"I'm happy kasi malakas ito sa radyo at balita ko, nag-number one sa Astro Plus."

Dagdag pa niya, "May isang song akong isinulat, 'Pushing Me Away.'

"Naisip ko ito two years ago pa, nagkaroon ako ng melody at lyrics. 

"It was long time ago, tapos nung nalaman ko na kailangan ng original for this album, sabi ko, shoot, baka puwede ito."

MARIE & ANNE. Sa album naman ng dating na-link kay Sam na si Marie Digby ay mayroon silang duet.

Ayon kay Sam, "I'm happy kasi sa reaction sa Twitter, nagustuhan nila yung song na 'Your Love' and she's [Marie] the one who wrote it. 

"It's a tie-up with Star and Universal. Nag-duet kami and maganda naman."

Nang tanungin kung hindi na ba talaga nadugtungan ang special something nila before ni Marie, sinabi ni Sam na magkaibigan pa rin sila pero hanggang doon na lang daw talaga ito sa ngayon.

"I haven't seen her except sa [Star Magic] Ball," sabi niya.

"We still text sometimes but hindi naman madalas, but we're friends naman. 

"She's doing a lot of shows and I'm so happy for her at lumabas na ang album niya. 

"Fan ako kahit sa mga music videos niya."

Lalabas na rin ang album ng ex-girlfriend ni Sam na si Anne Curtis para naman sa Viva Films. Bibili ba si Sam ng album ni Anne?

"Of course, I'll buy her album," mabilis na sagot ni Sam.

"Yun ang pangarap niya and I'm excited to hear it. 

"Alam ko ang favorite song niya, she sings it all the time. 

"Album now, susunod niyan, concert na."

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Sam Milby said he will undergo military training for his newest television project, "Muling Buksan ang Puso."


In an interview with Push.com.ph, Milby said he has already done workshops under director Laurice Guillen, adding that they will start taping next month.


"Ang alam ko kaming boys, magmi-military training kami. That's going to be something new for me,” he said.
Asked about his other TV project, "Alta," the actor said, "Alam ko three months ago dapat nag-start na kami mag-taping ng 'Alta' right after nung movie namin ni KC (Concepcion). Pero hindi ko alam kung bakit may delay. Siguro dahil busy sa ibang shows and revisions ng script."


"We’re just waiting pa rin pero [ang] alam ko tuloy," he added.


Meanwhile, Milby said he is enjoying his break from primetime TV since some of his family members are in the Philippines for a vacation.


“At least I have more time to spend with them habang hindi pa ako busy ulit sa paggawa ng teleserye. Sobrang happy ako na kasama 'yung pamangkin ko sa bahay. Kaya minsan kahit na puyat ako galing work, mas gusto ko pa rin makipaglaro sa kanya. Dahil in a few weeks’ time babalik na ulit sila sa States,” he said.


Milby currently appears on ABS-CBN’s Sunday variety show “ASAP Rocks.”


His last primetime series was “Idol” where he was paired with singer-actress Sarah Geronimo.

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Gretchen Barretto denied reports she is interfering with the creative team of her upcoming TV series with actresses Angelica Panganiban and KC Concepcion, which has caused unnecessary delays.


In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Monday, Barretto stressed she is just patiently waiting for their project to materialize since she is aware a lot of preparations has to be made.


Barretto said she has been waiting for the production team to inform her about the schedule of their taping.


“I get into it just a little bit dahil siyempre alam naman natin na mga genius ang ating mga creative team. So hinahayaan ko sila,” she said.


“I’m patiently waiting dahil alam ko naman na bago mag-umpisa ang isang teleseryeng malaking proyekto, you always have to wait because you know that the preparation has to be really really careful,” she added.


Meanwhile, Barretto admitted the creative team had a little problem because of the story’s complexity.


“Nagkaproblema lang sa creative team, nagkaproblema lang sa script dahil talagang napakahirap gumawa ng script para sa tatlong babae. Pero once we star dirediretso na iyan,” she said.


Barretto’s last TV series with ABS-CBN is “Magkaribal,” where she played the role of actress Bea Alonzo’s sister.
Barretto renewed her contract with ABS-CBN last May.

Another groundbreaking teleserye is airing soon on ABS-CBN starring three of the most beautiful faces in showbiz. “Muling Buksan ang Puso”, an upcoming teleserye on ABS-CBN, will star Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban and KC Concepcion.

Noong Lunes ay nag-workshop na sa pamamahala ni Direk Laurice Guillen sina Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban, at KC Concepcion para sa teleseryeng pagsasamahan nila, ang Muling Buksan Ang Puso.

Masaya ang tatlo sa kinalabasan ng kanilang workshop. “Exciting kasi marami kaming nalalaman sa isa’t isa. Step by step nabi-build na namin ‘yung magandang friendship. Mas nakilala mo sila deeper,” pahayag ni Angelica.

“Exhausting ‘yung workshop, ako medyo nahirapan. Good thing, nagkakakilanlan na kami. I think we are ready to work,” sagot naman ni Gretchen.

“This is it, nararamdaman namin na meron kaming project together na mang­yayari na ‘to finally kasi matagal na kaming naghihintay,” nakangiting dagdag naman ni KC.

Ang bali-balita ay tiyak daw na magpapatalbugan ang tatlong aktres pagdating sa pag-arte, damit, at mga alahas na kanilang gagamitin sa serye. “Kung patalbugan, malalaman n’yo na lang ‘yun. Pagdating namin sa set ‘di na si Angelica, si Angelica, siya na ‘yung character na pino-portray niya. Iba na rin ako, iba na rin si KC dun. Kung magkaaway kami sa teleserye ‘yun kami sa set,” sagot ni Gretchen.

“Masarap magtrabaho kapag nagtutulungan kayo at ‘di kayo maghihilahan pababa. Mas maaliw sila kung nakikita na sila sa lines at sa damit lang kami nagpapatalbugan. Kapag ‘di niya (Gretchen) lang ako pinahiram ng alahas, baka dun uminit ang ulo ko,” pabirong sagot naman ni Angelica.

“Kung mag-aaway, ako ang mediator dito,” nakangiting pagtatapos naman ni KC.

MANILA, Philippines - Actresses Angelica Panganiban, KC Concepcion and Gretchen Barretto attended an acting workshop together for ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Muling Buksan ang Puso."
In an interview with "Showbiz News Ngayon", the actresses shared their workshop experience under award-winning director Laurice Guillen.
"Exciting kasi marami kaming nalalaman sa isa't isa. Step-by-step nakikilala mo sila ng deeper," Panganiban said.
"Exhausting 'yong workshop. Medyo nahirapan. The good thing is nagkakakilanlan na kami. I think we are ready to work," Barretto said.
Concepcion shared: "This is it! Nararamdaman na namin na talagang may project kami together kasi matagal na kaming naghihintay."
The series will be directed by Ruel Naval, one of the directors of the defunct top-rating series "Magkaribal."
Asked if people will see them compete in the series on the fashion and acting front, Barretto replied:
"Kung patalbugan, malalaman niyo na lang yon. Si Angelica pagdating niya sa set hindi na siya si Angelica. Iba na ang character na ipo-portray niya. Iba na din ako. Iba na din si KC doon. Kung mag-away kami sa teleserye, 'yon kami pagdating sa set."


For Panganiban, she stressed that they will just do their job as actresses. She also added that it would be easy to do the series if they will work hand-in-hand.


"Masarap magtrabaho kung hindi kayo naghihilaan pababa, at doon magwo-work 'yon. Doon makikita ng tao kung paano magiging maganda ang teleserye na pinapanood nila," Panganiban said.
Also part of "Muling Buksan ang Puso" are actors Luis Manzano, Sam Milby and Zanjoe Marudo.
