Kapamilya artists win big at the 25th Awit Awards; Zia Quizon bags three major awards
Kapamilya artists were big winners at the 25th Awit Awards held today, November 27, at Glorietta 1 in Makati City.
Pop superstar Sarah Geronimo bagged the Best Selling Album of the Year award for One Heart.
In her acceptance speech, she joked, "Boyfriend na lang ang kulang?"
But she also fired off a rejoinder: "Si Sir Vehnee po ang nagsabi nun," while looking at composer Vehnee Saturno who was standing behind her on stage.
But it was ASAP Sessionista Zia Quizon who dominated the awards.
Her hit single "Ako Na Lang" took home three awards: Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist, Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist, and Song of the Year.
Zia also won Best Engineered Recording for the song "Simple Girl," which was sound engineered by Nikki Cunanan.
Zia, daughter of the late Comedy King Dolphy, was not present to receive the Best Recording Artist award because she left early.
Zia attended the event with her mother Zsa Zsa Padilla, and even performed "Ako Na Lang" for the audience.
Zia's co-star in ASAP 2012, Bamboo Mañalac, meanwhile, bagged the Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist award for his song "Questions."
Bamboo dedicated the recognition to his fans, saying, "Thank you for seeing the bigger picture."
Kapamilya actor and singer Sam Milby won Best Ballad Recording for "Hindi Kita Iiwan."
