Sam Milby on acting: ‘I’m my own worst critic’

As part of the hit Primetime Bida series Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Sam Milby said he feels very thankful to be part of a supportive group of people. “Ako wala akong narinig na masama from Juday (Judy Ann Santos) and the production, sa lahat that were there. Wala akong narinig na bad feedback at all. Ako naman I’m open to criticism naman eh. I’m open to that kung makakatulong sa akin. Pero may mga criticism talaga where they’re just out there to put you down and hindi ko naman papansinin,” he shared.
When it comes to acting, Sam said he wants to do his best with his role as Eros and is continually trying to practice his Tagalog so he can better deliver his lines. “Siyempre first off I’m my own worst critic lagi. But masasabi ko rin na happy ako sa naging outcome. Happy ako sa naging reaction ng tao at happy ako sa sarili ko na I really feel like I’ve been working a lot harder these past two years in terms of everything like acting and Tagalog. Sana makita yun ng mga tao sa character ko,” he said.
Unlike his character Eros, Sam said he does not have a dark side. “Hindi po. Hindi ganun ka-dark kasi si Eros malala talaga. But siyempre hindi naman ako perpekto. Never mangyayari na may isang babae na I would beat up or hit kahit kailan,. I would never do that. Siyempre may mga times na nagagalit talaga ako. Depende sa sitwasyon. If it’s something na ma-ti-trigger yung galit ko. But I’ve got a lot of patience. Calm person ako. I have road rage sometimes. Nothing in particular talaga,” he admitted.
After sharing intimate scenes with Judy Ann Santos and KC Concepcion in the series, Sam said he is more confident about his body. “Kasi last year yung mga eksena na kinunan last year, so mas marami akong oras para mag-workout so mas confident ako dati. Ngayon hindi ako masyado nag-wo-workout. Hindi naman sa confident, mas nakakahiya para sa akin kapag nahihirapan ako sa eksena pero sa ganun hindi eh. Thanks to Juday for her flattering comments and high praises niya sa akin. Hindi naman kailangan mahiya. Pero bakit ako hindi magiging kumportable? Hindi naman yun parang wala na akong suot eh,” he said...

Bago pa magsimula ang programa, nagpaunlak si Sam ng panayam sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at dito ay masaya niyang ibinalita ang mga kaabang-abang pang mga mangyayari sa malapit nang magtatapos na serye nila nina Judy Ann Santos at KC Concepcion, ang Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala sa ABS-CBN.
Sabi niya, “Andami, e malapit nang matapos so dapat i-expect…
“Di ba kasi pag ending ng mga teleserye kadalasang 'one big wow revelations,' sobrang exciting kasi yung mga dapat abangan sa last two weeks.
“Siyempre laban na kasi ni Anessa, the ball is in her court na kumbaga. Na nakita na nung mga tao na mali yung batang nakuha niya, hindi naman yun yung anak niya so you have to see what will...
“Kung paano ma-exchange kung paano niya makukuha niya yung tunay na anak niya.”
Sa show ay bida-kontrabida ang role ni Sam bilang si Eros Diomedes, ang dating asawa ni Judy Ann na ngayon ay napunta na kay KC. Nahirapan ba siyang maging kontrbaida?
Pakatotoo niya, “Of course, siyempre never ko pa nagawa ang isang bida-kontrabida role na gray character kasi, instead na dapat kontrabidang-kontrabida, dapat may paawa effect sa mga tao.
“Dapat maunawaan ng mga tao kung bakit dapat ganun yung character ko, di ba, so sobrang mahirap.

Saad niya, “May mga haters, may mga bashers pero lagi naman in a good way.

MANILA -- ABS-CBN has offered a new project to Judy Ann Santos, an executive of the Kapamilya network said, as the primetime series starring the actress nears its conclusion.
Director Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN's TV Production Head, shared the news early this week in a series of posts on micro-blogging site Twitter, amid speculations about Santos' ongoing series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala."
Addressing concerns brought up by Santos' fans on the social networking site, Dyogi explained that the soap's relatively short run reflects the "actual length of the story."
"It was as planned by the creators of the soap. Short but powerful story... What the creators don't want to happen is to extend the story unnecessarily. ['Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala'] is one of the best crafted soaps of [ABS-CBN]," he said."

Sam Milby contradicts speculation that Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala will end because of poor ratings

"Sinong nagsasabi na mababa ang ratings? Every time that I check on the ratings, sobrang taas ng ratings namin, so obviously it’s not true," sabi ni Sam Milby sa usap-usapang kaya mawawala na sa ere ng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala ay dahil sa mababang ratings daw nito.

Huling dalawang linggo na ng ABS-CBN primetime series na Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala. Bida rito sina Judy Ann Santos, KC Concepcion, at Sam Milby.
Nagsimula itong umere noong June 17 at magtatapos na sa August 23.
Sa panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at Cinema News kay Sam, itinanggi nito na hindi ratings ang dahilan kung bakit tatapusin na ang kanilang programa.
Sabi ng actor-singer, “Yung ratings? Sinong nagsasabi na mababa ang ratings?
“Every time that I check on the ratings, sobrang taas ng ratings namin, so obviously it’s not true.”
Ang tinutukoy ni Sam ay ang nationwide ratings na nakukuha mula sa TNS-Kantar Media, kung saan lamang ang Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala sa katapat nitong programa sa GMA-7, ang My Husband’s Lover.
Dagdag niya, “The original plan is thirteen weeks lang yung teleserye namin, one season.
“Ako, actually, I was hoping na mag-e-extend.
“Nag-e-enjoy naman ako and sobrang happy sa feedbacks and everything.
“And mataas ang ratings namin, so lahat kami, sobrang saya.
“Parang after a year of taping, nakakalungkot na matatapos na kami, last two weeks.
“Basta sobrang thankful ako sa project na ito, working with Juday and everyone.
“Sobrang thankful ako kay Juday talaga, to sacrifice para sa aming lahat, how she believes on us and in this project also.
“Kay Sir Deo [Endrinal] and everyone, dahil sa project na ito, I was able to push myself more.”
Malungkot man sa pagtatapos ng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, masaya raw si Sam na isang magandang serye ang iiwan nila sa publiko.
“Ako, proud talaga ako sa role na ito.
“Masaya naman kung tumagal ng kaunti, yeah.
"But, at the same time, magiging masaya ‘coz I have a feeling, sa ganda ng story, I think we’ll end on a high note.
“Matatapos na, it’s really a great story na ako, when I get to watch, pati ako nae-excite din.

"Sinong nagsasabi na mababa ang ratings? Every time that I check on the ratings, sobrang taas ng ratings namin, so obviously it’s not true," sabi ni Sam Milby sa usap-usapang kaya mawawala na sa ere ng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala ay dahil sa mababang ratings daw nito.

Huling dalawang linggo na ng ABS-CBN primetime series na Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala. Bida rito sina Judy Ann Santos, KC Concepcion, at Sam Milby.
Nagsimula itong umere noong June 17 at magtatapos na sa August 23.
Sa panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at Cinema News kay Sam, itinanggi nito na hindi ratings ang dahilan kung bakit tatapusin na ang kanilang programa.
Sabi ng actor-singer, “Yung ratings? Sinong nagsasabi na mababa ang ratings?
“Every time that I check on the ratings, sobrang taas ng ratings namin, so obviously it’s not true.”
Ang tinutukoy ni Sam ay ang nationwide ratings na nakukuha mula sa TNS-Kantar Media, kung saan lamang ang Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala sa katapat nitong programa sa GMA-7, ang My Husband’s Lover.
Dagdag niya, “The original plan is thirteen weeks lang yung teleserye namin, one season.
“Ako, actually, I was hoping na mag-e-extend.
“Nag-e-enjoy naman ako and sobrang happy sa feedbacks and everything.
“And mataas ang ratings namin, so lahat kami, sobrang saya.
“Parang after a year of taping, nakakalungkot na matatapos na kami, last two weeks.
“Basta sobrang thankful ako sa project na ito, working with Juday and everyone.
“Sobrang thankful ako kay Juday talaga, to sacrifice para sa aming lahat, how she believes on us and in this project also.
“Kay Sir Deo [Endrinal] and everyone, dahil sa project na ito, I was able to push myself more.”
Malungkot man sa pagtatapos ng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, masaya raw si Sam na isang magandang serye ang iiwan nila sa publiko.
“Ako, proud talaga ako sa role na ito.
“Masaya naman kung tumagal ng kaunti, yeah.
"But, at the same time, magiging masaya ‘coz I have a feeling, sa ganda ng story, I think we’ll end on a high note.
“Matatapos na, it’s really a great story na ako, when I get to watch, pati ako nae-excite din.
“Happy ako na everyone is enjoying the show.”

Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala star Sam Milby admitted he is happy being single and is not pressured to be in a relationship any time soon. “Hindi naman kailangan maging pressured, darating yun eh. I’m still young. I’m 29 and I think may dahilan para sa lahat. Kasi feeling ko, I think God has a plan, kunwari if I did have a love life right now, if I have a girlfriend, pag in love ako nakatutok talaga ako sa kanya. Pag in love I’m very focused and wala I think there's maybe a reason. Wala eh, I'm just enjoying sa dami ng blessings sa buhay ko ngayon and I know na darating yun,” he shared.
For his role as Eros in Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Sam admitted he really wanted his character to leave an impression with the viewers. “I really worked hard para sa role na ito so parang kay Eros, magagalit, ma-in love, mainis, maawa, lahat lahat. Sana magagalit talaga sila, ibig sabihin nun effective yung acting ko. You can't play the good guy all the time. Maganda naman to play yung mga ibang roles na grey or kontrabida kasi it shows versatility as an actor. Hindi ka lang puwedeng maging good guy lagi,” he explained.
For his craft, Sam said he also has his inspirations when it comes to acting. “One person I really admire as an actor si Heath Ledger, yung ginawa niyang role sa Dark Knight, sobra yung respeto ng lahat sa ginawa niyang character. That really shows [his] personality,” he added.
Sam said his role now is more complex than his role in Maging Sino Ka Man. “For me oo. Para sa akin mas deeper yung role, mas malalim yung role, mas extreme. Mas intense. So sana naman makikita niyo yung effort ko. Sana yun ang sasabihin niyo na mas magaling si Sam dito sa role na ito,” he revealed.

Sam Milby, wala nang pagkailang kay Anne Curtis
SA NAGING interview naman namin kay Sam Milby, agad na klinaro sa amin ng aktor nan hindi ratings ang dahilan kung bakit mawawala sa ere ang Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, dahil mataas naman ang ratings nito.
Ipinaliwanag sa amin ni Sam na thirteen weeks o isang season lang talaga ang orihinal na plano na tatakbuhin ng istorya. Aminadong inaasahan pa nga niya na mag-e-extend pa ito dahil maganda naman ang ratings at positibo ang feedbacks ng publiko, pero sa nakikita niyang ganda ng tinatakbo ng istorya ay alam niyang matatapos ito na maganda ang iiwan nila sa publiko.
Labis ang pasasalamat kay Juday dahil pinaglaban nito ang proyekto at silang mga nakasama nito sa nasabing serye, pinapasalamatan din ni Sam si Sir Deo Edrinal at sa Dreamscape dahil kakaibang role ang ibinigay sa kanya rito bilang si Eros.
Dalawang serye ang nagawa ngayong taong ito, isang pelikula naman na pagtatambalan nila nina Cristine Reyes at Anne Curtis ang sisimulang gawin ng aktor. Agad naming tinanong kundi ba siya nakararamdam ng pagkailang ngayong magkakatrabaho muli sila ng ex-girlfriend.
Inamin naman ni Sam na nu’ng gawin nila ni Anne ang pelikulang Babe, I Love You apat na taon ang nakararaan at kabi-break lang nila ng ex ay totoong nahirapan sila sa set. Pero ngayong naka-move on na sila pareho ni Anne ay alam niyang magiging masaya sila sa set. Hindi nga lang magiging close gaya ng dati bilang respeto kay Erwan Heussaff na boyfriend sa ngayon ni Anne. Kilala naman namin si Sam na alam kung saan dapat ilugar ang sarili at wala sa bokubularyo nito ang manira ng relasyon ng ibang tao.

According to the show's teaser, Santos' soap "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which premiered last June 17, is set to end soon.
"Sa mata ng isang ina wala ng mas mahalaga pa kung hindi ang kanyang anak. Huwag kang mawawala sa nalalapit na pagtatapos ng teleseryeng isusugal ang lahat," the teaser's voiceover said.
"Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" tells the story of Anessa (Santos), a battered wife who will do everything to protect her child.
Santos, meanwhile, took to Twitter to thank those who have followed the soap, which also stars Sam Milby and KC Concepcion.

Judy Ann's soap maintains wide lead vs 'My Husband's Lover'
Young superstar overwhelmed by continued support
MANILA -- Despite a change in time slot, the primetime series starring Judy Ann Santos remained the No. 1 program among its competing shows, as measured across urban and rural households nationwide."Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which airs during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, maintained its lead in national TV ratings over its rival shows aired on GMA-7 and TV5 in the last week of July.
..According to the latest TV ratings data of multi-national market research group Kantar Media, the Kapamilya series continued its winning streak in nationwide ratings against GMA-7's "My Husband's Lover" on July 29 (25.3% vs 11.9%), July 30 (27.5% vs 14%), and July 31 (28.5% vs 14.8%).
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
An overjoyed Santos, who is dubbed local showbiz's "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera," expressed thanks to the loyal viewers of "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala."
"Maraming, maraming, maraming salamat po talaga sa lahat ng nagti-tweet, nag-i-Instagram sa pagpapanood ng 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.' You inspire us to do more, and to be better sa teleseryeng 'to," she said during a live interview on "Bandila" aired Thursday.
She added: "To ABS-CBN, thank you. Sa lahat po ng nanonood talaga, sa mga directors namin, staff and crew ng 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,' this is our show and sama-sama natin ipapakita sa mga tao na nagpapasalamat tayo sa patuloy na pagmamahal at pagtitiwala nila sa atin."
