Sam Milby gears up for 2 comedy movies
ACTOR Sam Milby will be featured in two comedy movies on the big screen.
This December, the Kapamilya actor will star opposite comedienne Eugene Domingo in the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel," followed by Viva Films' romantic-comedy movie "The Gifted," which is his reunion project with ex-girlfriend Anne Curtis.
Sam said that it's a good break from doing heavy drama and his dark role in the recently concluded primetime series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala."
Although he's comfortable in doing serious stuff on the small screen, the actor said he doesn't want to close his doors to other genres in television and movies. He sees these two projects as his way to show his comedic side.
Based from his few shooting days, the actor said comedy is much harder to do than his usual roles on television.
"Saludo ako sa mga komendyante who are able to pull off comedy because the timing of comedy is mahirap. The way you have to do your timing and jokes is harder. It's easier to make people cry than to laugh," he said.
He added: "Mahirap rin sa akin dahil sa language and the comedy that I grew up with in the States, iba sa comedy dito sa Pilipinas. For the longest time, I couldn't understand that especially hindi ko naman naiintindihan ang tagalog. But I'm getting better now."
Sam said although comedy is not the direction of his career, he hopes to give justice to his roles and show a different side of him.
"I don't want to be known as a comedian. I would want to be known as a dramatic actor. But I think versatility is something that you can never go wrong in acting. I would want to show na kaya ko mag-drama, kaya ko mag-action, kaya ko mag-comedy."
