Sam Milby denied that the reason Jericho Rosales backed out from the teleserye Against All Odds is because of billing issue. WhenPush.com.ph asked him about it, Sam explained that unpredictable shooting schedule was primarily the reason why there have been changes in the cast. “Si John Estrada na ang kasama [na gaganap ng role sana ni Jericho]. I don’t know kung dapat ko sabihin pero last year pa kasama na si John sa original cast. Yung role na ‘yan kay John Estrada. Tapos nagkaroon ng A Beautiful Affair kaya di niya pwedeng gawin yung Against All Odds. Eh dahil tumigil na kami sa taping at that time [nagkataon na] natapos na yung A Beautiful Affair. Dapat nga si Jericho ang naging kasama sa teleserye. I don’t know what actually happened with that. Ayun, tapos na taping ng A Beautiful Affair, si Echo ‘di na kasama, at si John Estrada na ulit,” he said in an interview with Push.com.ph last Friday, February 22.
Although he’s first to be tapped as the leading man of Judy Ann Santos, the Rockoustic Heartthrob maintained that the role that Jericho was supposed to portray was equally vital in the story. So he didn’t that Jericho would back out of the teleserye because of billing or anything like that. “Hindi [yun ang concern]. Napakalaking role din yung kay John Estrada. Magkaiba yung roles namin eh. Ayoko lang i-spoil. Basta very important talaga yung role niya. It’s a leading man role din. Just like yung sinasabi ko, yung role ko very grey yung character. Basta ayoko na ikwento ng masyado. Basta parehong important yung role namin. Lalo na sa first part na mas nakikita yung character ko. Tapos after the first few weeks mas magiging strong character ni John,” he explained.
Sam admitted though that he was not able to speak to Jericho about it. However, the latter had previously mentioned in an interview that he backed out from the show in favor of an opportunity to do a Malaysian TV series.
Meanwhile, Sam happily shared that he has resumed taping for Against All Odds, along with his ongoing teleserye Kahit Konting Pagtingin. With his crazy schedule, the 28-year-old actor admitted that he rarely has time to rest these days. “Every T-TH-S light ang taping for Kahit Konting Pagtingin, tapos M-W-F Against All Odds heavy drama naman. Ito ang first time in 7 years that I’ve been in the business na may dalawa akong sabay na teleserye. Laging movie tapos teleserye. Mas mahirap kapag teleserye kasi mas madaming eksena ang kinukunan sa isang araw. Pag movie mas konting emosyon.
Eto mahirap talaga pero sobrang happy ako na madami akong blessings and I get to explore different characters.”
Although he’s yet to shoot scenes with Judy Ann, Sam is excited because his Tagalog has improved in the past few months. As it is, Judy Ann is all praises for his acting skills except for his lack of fluency in Tagalog. “Happy ako na kahit papaano tumigil taping namin sa Against All Odds tapos nag-start kami sa Kahit Konting Pagtingin kasi nag-improve Tagalog ko. I think malaking tulong sa Against All Odds kasi nag-improve na ako sa tagalog. Nung nag-start kasi kaming mag-taping last year, ‘di ako masyado nagaral nung time na yun. Ngayon todo na pagaaral ko sa Tagalog. May tutor na ako, si Daisy Carino. She’s the dubbing director. Siya rin nagturo kay Gerald (Anderson). So ngayon ngayon unti-unti na akong gumagaling, pero siyempre may times na talagang nahirapan ako dahil sa accent ko. But the important thing is nag-iimprove ako.”...
