Toni is good friends with Vice Ganda; and she has been romantically linked to Sam Milby a few years back

MANILA, Philippines – All is well between close friends Toni Gonzaga and Vice Ganda amid rumors of a tiff allegedly caused by the latter not being invited to the former’s upcoming concert.

The multimedia star, who’s celebrating her first decade in showbiz, clarified during her press conference for her “Toni @ 10” concert that, “Invited talaga si Vice.”

“Actually nahihiya ako kasi siyempre sobrang busy ni Vice. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Nahihiya na ako sa iyo, Vice.’ Tapos sabi niya, ‘Loka-loka ka talaga, ba’t ka nahihiya?’ Kasi siyempre alam ko kung gaano siya ka-busy at [kung gaano] ka-hectic [ang schedule niya]. Nahihiya talaga ako na imbitahan siya sa concert,” she added.

In a recent interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Vice related how important it is for him to be part of such milestone in Toni’s career.

“…Kahit walang bayad maggi-guest ako sa show... Kasi gusto kong maging bahagi sa malaking event na iyon sa buhay ni Toni kasi masaya akong i-involve ang sarili ko kay Toni kasi mahal na mahal ko siya,” said the TV host-comedian.

The TV host-singer-actress, in turn, appreciates Vice’s gesture.

“He really called to say na gusto niya maging parte and natutuwa ako sa kanya sa ginawa niyang ‘yun dahil isa siya sa maituturing kong mabuting kaibigan dito sa industriyang ito. Pero wala namang isyu ‘yung sa amin ni Vice…” said Toni.

The lineup of guests for her anniversary concert, according to Toni, consists of those who’ve been a big part of her life and her career. She said that her fans can expect to see Piolo Pascual (whom she starred with in the popular “I love you, Piolo!” softdrink commercial), John Lloyd Cruz (her leading man in the 2010 blockbuster hit, “My Amnesia Girl”), her best friend Vhong Navarro, comedienne-TV host Pokwang and her younger sister Alex Gonzaga at the momentous occasion.

When asked if Sam Milby, her onscreen partner in a string of hit romantic-comedy flicks, would be part of her concert, Toni said, “Hindi ko pa alam. Kasi marami silang itinatago sa akin, eh. May mga surprise guests sila, eh."

“Malay mo i-surprise niya ako!" she added, laughing.

Some speculated that Sam might’ve been left out of the lineup because, at some point, Toni's boyfriend, director Paul Soriano, was said to be jealous of the actor and the amount of time he and Toni had spent together.

Toni exclaimed, "Naku, hindi lang kay Sam!"

She added, “‘Yun lang siguro ‘yung pinaka-safe niyang nasabi. Marami rin naman siyang napagselosan. It just so happened na 'yun lang ‘yung nasabi niya. Kasi siya [Sam] ‘yung may pinakamarami kaming nagawa na pelikula [na magkasama]."

After the success of her Star Cinema flick Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi, Toni Gonzaga is once again busy gearing up for her major concert at the Araneta Coliseum on September 30 called Toni at 10 which celebrates the multimedia star’s 10 years in show business. “Siyempre excited na excited ako kasi mabibigyan ako ng pagkakataon na mai-celebrateyung sampung taon ko sa industriyang ito sa isang malaking venue katulad ng Smart Araneta Coliseum with my very, very special guests. Si Mr.Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Vhong Navarro, Pokwang. Siyempre yung kapatid ko si Alex Gonzaga and this is going to be directed by Mr. Johnny Manahan,” she shared during her press conference last September 6.

Toni denied reports that comedian Vice Ganda felt insulted that he was not included in the guest line-up for her concert. Toni said that her friendship with the Gandang Gabi Vice host is intact and as strong as ever. “Hindi naman ganun, invited talaga si Vice. Actually nahihiya ako kasi siyempre sobrang busy ni Vice. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Nahihiya na ako sa iyo, Vice.’Tapos sabi niya, ‘Loka-loka ka talaga, ba’t ka nahihiya?’ Kasi siyempre alam ko kung gaano siya ka-busy at ka-hectic. Nahihiya talaga ako na imbitahan siya sa concert. But nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya dahil napakabait niya at talagang he really called to say na gusto niya maging parte and natutuwa ako sa kanya sa ginawa niyang yun dahil isa siya sa maituturing kong mabuting kaibigan dito sa industriyang ito. Pero wala namang isyu yung sa amin ni Vice. Ano lang talaga, siyempre at the end of the day kahit papaano we’re in this business na trabaho pa rin ito ‘di ba?” she explained.

The 27-year-old Happy Yipee Yehey! host said she is looking forward to rehearsing for her concert because it features a line-up of guests that are also very dear to her heart. “Espesyal talaga kasi personal ko talagang linapitan itong mga ito. Si Pokwang is a very good friend at natutuwa ako sa kakayahan niya bilang performer.Alam kong madami siyang mapapasaya sa concert ko pag andun siya at kaibigan ko din siya. Si John Lloyd Cruz, nagpapasalamat ako kasi naging parte siya ng ten years ko tapos si Piolo Pascual kasi he started my ten years. Siya yung isa sa mga nagsimula tapos si Vhong Navarro dahil he’s always been a part of my ten years. He’s been a good friend and I’m really happy to have a friend like Vhong. Vhong is also part of my guests saconcert kasi siya yung unang-unang lalake na naging ka-close sa showbiz. Dati wala kasi nahihiya ako makipagkaibigan. Si Vhong talaga yung unang-una naging kaibigan ko kasi maraming alam naman si Vhongsa akin. Meron din daw some surprise guests na ikaka-surprise ko (laughs). Hindi nila sinasabi sa akin,” she admitted.

On whether her former onscreen partner Sam Milby will show up or not, Toni answered, “Hindi ko pa alam kasi madami silang tinatago sa akin, may mga surprise guests pa eh. Malay mo i-surprise niya ako (laughs). Hindi ko alam eh,” she added.

Toni shared that each and every guest is not only a friend to her, but someone who can bear witness to landmarks in her showbiz career. “Actually, even before this whole guest lineup was finalized, tinanong ako andnagkaroon kami ng kuwentuhan about the whole flow of my career in the business for ten years. Yung mgaguests ko, sila yung mga artista at mga personalidad na naging malaki ang parte sa buhay ko kaya sila ang magiging bahagi nito,” she said.

MANILA, Philippines - Versatile TV personality Toni Gonzaga is marking 10 years in show business.


Gonzaga admits she is excited over her anniversary concert at the Araneta Coliseum at the end of the month. Moreso, as her home network ABS-CBN said she had earned the right to hold it at the Big Dome.


"Every night, I can't sleep. This is the biggest event of my life ever!" she said on ANC's "Headstart."


"I'm thankful. This is one of my biggest dreams. You deserve a great show and I will give you that on September 30," she added.


Gonzaga said the show will feature friends in showbusiness who have become part of her life like Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, her best friend Vhong Navarro, sister Alex Gonzaga, Pokwang, with a special participation by Vice Ganda and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.


Soft drink commercial
A performer since her youth, Gonzaga said she remains fascinated with the glitz and glamor of showbiz.
"The best thing about showbiz is you can influence people. The worst, sometimes it can change you in a bad way," she said.


She could very well have spoofed her way into the industry at the age of 17, with her unforgettable performance as the girl smitten with Piolo Pascual in a soft drink commercial. It was just the kind of exposure she needed to land a showbiz stint.
"That was the turning point in my career. People noticed me and I started getting breaks in the industry."
She first got an offer to become a mainstay host on a noontime variety show on another channel.
In 2005, a desire to maximize her potential and to grow as an artist convinced her to joined the ABS-CBN family via "Wazzup Wazzup."


Out of respect for her previous network, Gonzaga said it took her 5 years to accept the offer to do a noontime show on ABS-CBN, which tuned out to be "Happy Yipee Yehey."


Today, she has a diverse showbiz portfolio that would by the envy of every aspiring TV personality.
She hosted the popular reality show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), which earned her good reviews.


She is a regular host of top showbiz news program The Buzz and ABS-CBN's weekly variety show A.S.A.P. for which she was named best female TV host at the 20th PMPC Star Awards for Television in 2006.
Gonzaga also acts and her movies have become box-office hits.


On top of her various appearances, she's warming up for another stint on PBB by October.
"I've been part of it for five years. If they take me out, I'll take it personally," she said with a laugh.


A regular face
Gonzaga admits she's just a regular face, but with loads of talent, masa appeal honed before she was in her teens, and a heart for performing.


"It's very regular, my face. Makakarelate ang masa talaga," she said.
She also grew close to the masses of Taytay, Rizal at the age of 9 or 10, when her uncle, a former councilor, asked her to host their events.


She was the one they turned to for song numbers or to host during fiestas when her dad ran for councilor.
She adds her heart for now is not in politics.
Her dreams as a high schooler including being a househelp due to the influence of the Princess Sara cartoons, and a teacher.


"During those times I would audition, I'd tell my dad ang daming maganda, mestiza especially sa VTR for commercials, gusto ko nang umuwi."


She joined auditions alongside the likes of Joey Mead and Christina Garcia.
"Lalakasan ko lang ang loob ko to sign up to register. But my dad would tell me, hindi ka nandito sa industriya para magpaganda. Ang ibebenta natin yung talent mo."


On love
When it comes to love, Gonzaga believes in waiting. She says her career comes first.
Now 27, she also wants to go back to school at the University of the Philippines where she took up a degree in English.


"My priority for now is my career," she said.
Gonzaga also admitted she thought she would end up with actor Sam Milby.
"There was a time I thought he was going to be the one. We were very close, doing a lot of movies together, spent a lot of time together but I was not allowed to get in a relationship. I was very young. I was 21," she said.
"I do not follow my heart, I follow my parents," she added.


Gonzaga met her boyfriend, director Paul Soriano, at a Gary V. concert in 2006.
People often ask them if they have plans of settling down but Toni believes true love can wait.
"I wanted to get married at the age of 30. That's my plan. I think 30 is the new 25."


Despite the absence of any formal training, Gonzaga admits singing is a natural passion. She now has five recording albums under her belt.


"I love singing. It's something I can't let go of. I used to be a lounge singer in Hyatt Hotel, Kalesa bar. I used to sing in four hotels at 17."


And after 10 fruitful years, Gonzaga is grateful for the opportunity to realize her dreams.
