Is Judy Ann Santos moving to TV5?

With her show “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” nearing its end (it will bow out on Aug. 23), the rumor that Judy Ann Santos is moving over to TV5 has intensified. Especially so because recently, her manager, Alfie Lorenzo, has written in his column that Juday has a confirmed meeting with TV5 top honcho Manny V. Pangilinan anytime soon.

At the final and thanksgiving press conference last Thursday (Aug. 15) for “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” at the 14th floor of ABS-CBN’s ELJ Bldg, this forthcoming meeting with MVP was not denied by either Juday or her manager.

When the meeting with MVP was mentioned, Juday just smiled and said “after this teleserye, I just want to take a rest. Isang taon din na pinagtrabahuan naming ito at nakakapagod din. But I am so happy na nagustuhan ng mga tao itong pagbabalik ko sa teleserye.”

Recall that Judy Ann Santos has been dubbed the “Original Queen of Pinoy Soap Operas,” and rightly so. She has proven her mettle in acting even when she was still a teener on her most famous drama series “Mara Clara.”

Juday and the whole cast of “Huag Ka Lang Mawawala” – KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, including Tirso Cruz 111, Coney Reyes, Matet de Leon, Empress, John Estrada, Mylene Dizon, Johnny Revilla, et al - are proud and happy about the tremendous success of the drama series of ABS-CBN.

So why is the Network axing the show if it is scoring high ratings? Juday answered: “It was I who asked that the show ends as originally planned, when it is still rating high. Mas magandang mag-end na truly appreciated pa ang show. All good things has to end, but I want the show to end on a high note. Gusto kong magpaalam ang teleserye na taas-noo. And the Network agreed with my decision.”

But more than the ratings, what Judy Ann and the rest of the cast so proud of is the fact that “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” is an advocacy show that has successfully achieved its purpose – to inform and educate women of their rights, and to fight when they are abused especially by their loved ones like husbands and boyfriends...
