"ABS-CBN's "Impostor" will be competing in the Best Telenovela category against Argentina's "Contra las Cuerdas," Brazil's "Destiny River," and Portugal's "Lacos de Sangue."


"We are very thrilled.  The nomination is an honor and a validation of our team's efforts," said Laurenti Dyogi, business unit head responsible for the TV series aired last year.


“PHR: Impostor” starred Maja Salvador, Melai Cantiveros, Jason Francisco, and Sam Milby.  It was directed by Jerome Pabocan and Neal del Rosario.


The International Emmy Awards is given by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS). The awards will be held from 18-21 November 2011"

MANILA, Philippines – Melai Cantiveros and Sam Milby, stars of “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Impostor,” are both on cloud nine with the nomination of the series in the Telenovela category of the 2011 International Emmy Awards.

“Sobrang saya namin ni Jason dahil na-nominate ‘yung ‘Impostor’ sa Emmy Awards,” said Melai in a recent interview with PEP, pertaining to her real-life sweetheart and co-star on the show, Jason Francisco.

The comedienne added, "‘Yung Emmy Awards, pang-mayaman daw ‘yun, eh. ‘Yung sa abroad daw ‘yun, eh.”

As the only Filipino series nominated at the International Emmys—joining shows from Brazil (“Destiny River”), Argentina (“Contra las Cuerdas”), and Portugal (“Lacos de Sangue” aka “Blood Ties”), Melai said, “In fairness, ‘pag na-nominate pa lang, ‘di na basta-basta, ‘di ba?”

"I can't believe it! Sana manalo naman,” she added.

Sam, meanwhile, said in an interview posted also on PEP, "Thankful talaga. I would never expect anything like that, nomination pa lang, happy na ako... kaming lahat."

Asked what he deems as the edge of “Impostor” over the other nominees, Sam cited the story (“maganda,” he described) as well as its lead star Maja Salvador, who “did a great job.”

"Dalawang characters ang ginawa niya. She acted like Melai... Maja really carried the show,” the actor-singer added.

Melai apparently has the same thoughts.

"Siguro, dahil sa ‘yung mukha ni Maja at ‘yung mukha ko, pinagdikit sa salamin,” she kidded, adding, “And then, ‘yung attitude ko, ginaya ni Maja. Tsaka ang galing-galing ni Maja dun.”

The awarding ceremony for this year’s International Emmys will be held from Nov. 18 to 21 in New York.
