Sam Milby is all set to match Judy Ann Santos’s dramatic performance in ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’

Sam Milby was quick to refute speculations that his recently-concluded teleserye Kahit Konting Pagtingin was cut short due to low ratings. Previous reports also mentioned that his co-star Angeline Quinto had been constantly criticized for her acting skills which might have affected the soap’s performance. “No, it’s not that. The plan really was for it to run for 13 weeks. Naka-13 weeks naman. That was really the plan,” said Sam in an interview with Push.com.ph.

Nevertheless, the Rockoustic Heartthrob is looking forward to his next teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala opposite the Queen of Teleserye Judy Ann Santos. When asked if he’s ready to match Judy Ann’s dramatic performance and become the King of Teleserye, Sam maintained that he’d rather focus on improving his craft than dwell on his status in showbiz. “Yung mga title title [hindi ko iniisip] basta gusto ko lang ibigay best ko at sana maging maganda pagtanggap ng kapamilya nating manonood. I’m very happy kasi kakaiba yung role na ginagawa ko dito. It’s a different Sam na makikita ng mga tao. It’s a very grey role. Excited ako. Maybe it will air sometime in June.”

Although he didn’t have the chance to watch Judy Ann’s previous soaps, Sam attested to the fact that she hasn’t lost her sparkle to this day. “Yung working relationship namin, hindi naman ako lumaki dito sa Pilipinas, I didn’t get to watch her projects. But working with her sa mga eksena, magaling talaga si Judy Ann. Sometimes nai-intimidate ako kasi ang galing talaga. Tapos minsan sa eksena nabubulol ako minsan lalo na kapag kasama ko siya kasi prine-pressure ko sarili ko.” Sam added that he reads Tagalog tongue twisters everyday to improve his grasp of the language.

In the meantime, Sam is thrilled because Adolfo Alix Jr.’s indie movie Death March—where he is top-billed together with Zanjoe Marudo, Ejay Falcon, Carlo Aquino, and Sid Lucero—will be screened at Cannes Film Festival next month. The said indie film will be pitted against 14 other foreign entries for the Un Certain Regard Section, along with another Filipino film, Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan, directed by Lav Diaz.

ACTRESS Judy Ann Santos is excited to premier her upcoming Kapamilya primetime series "Against All Odds".
After the series was moved to a later release this year, Juday shared she started taping again for the series with KC Concepcion and Sam Milby.
She said that she enjoyed working with the two as they have a good working relationship on the set.

"Blessed ako na lagi akong nakakahanap ng katrabahong comfortable, very professional, and nakakamiss din makatrabaho yung mga direktor na kasama namin. Masaya na nakakakita ka ng mga kapamilya sa production every week," she said.
Despite being the lead actress behind the hit television series "Esperanza," "Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka," "Krystala," "Sa Piling Mo," and "Ysabella," Juday said she is still nervous on how the audience would react to her new show. The series is a comeback project for Juday after a three-year layoff.

"May kaba. Hindi lang naman ako kinakabahan sa mga proyektong ginagawa ko, lalo na ngayon na may tatlong taon din akong di nakita ng tao sa teleserye. Sana yung expectations hindi masyadong matindi," she said.
But more than anything, she said she is excited to provide quality television series for the Filipino viewers.

"Excited ako kasi pinagkatiwalaan ako ng ABS at ni Sir Deo (Endrinal) sa isang magandang magandang project. Ang trabaho ko na lang ngayon ay mapatunayan na kaya kong itawid itong teleserye," she said...

ABS-CBN changes title of Judai, KC's soap

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN has changed the title of its upcoming series "Against All Odds" to "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala."

The soap stars Judy Ann Santos, John Estrada, Sam Milby and KC Concepcion, who revealed the new title on her official Twitter account.

"Got my new script & saw the NEW TITLE of the teleserye! It's no longer called Against All Odds. Presenting... ❤ HUWAG KA LANG MAWAWALA. Coming soon!," Concepcion tweeted.

Concepcion started shooting the soap last year after she wrapped up her hosting stint on "The X Factor Philippines.

In a previous interview, Concepcion said she's happy to work with Santos, a veteran of TV soap operas.

Recently, Santos shared her excitement as she resumed taping for the soap.

"Masaya, masaya talaga. Blessed ako na palagi akong nakakahanap ng katrabaho na very comfortable at very professional, at 'yung mga director na kasama namin. Nakakatuwa at nakaka-miss 'yung may pamilya kang nakikita sa production every week. Nakakapanibago lang sa simula pero ngayon ko na-realize na ito pala yung na-miss ko," Santos said.

"Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which aims to "empower women" is Santos' comeback television series. Her last TV series was "Habang May Buhay" in 2010, although she hosted two seasons of the cooking show "MasterChef."

MANILA, Philippines – The debut of “Against All Odds,” the upcoming upcoming television series of actress Judy Ann Santos, has been pushed back to next year.

But Santos clarified that she does not feel bad about the delay. "Against All Odds" was originally scheduled to start airing this month.

“Actually masaya kami sa set, kalmado lang very relaxed,” she said in an interview with Push.com.ph.

Santos added that she appreciates the honesty of the management not to rush the show.
“Ako rin naman, 'yung opinyon ko din naman, ayaw ko din naman mag-tape ng for airing kasi hindi mo maseseryoso 'yung trabaho kasi lagi kang ngarag sa pag-arte, tapos hindi ka puwede mag-take two, mag-take three kasi for airing nga siya,” she said.

Santos, whose last teleserye was the primetime drama "Habang May Buhay" in 2010, said she wants her TV comeback to be beautiful.
“Ayaw ko kasi 'yung wala akong choice. Hindi naman ako sa nagmamaldita no, pero ang tagal ko kasing hindi umarte sa telebisyon kaya gusto ko kapag lumabas 'yung soap na ginagawa namin, 'yung dekalidad 'yung ipapakita namin para worth naman 'yung paghihintay ng mga tao,” she explained.

“Mas gusto ko na binigyan nila ako ng time manamnam itong teleserye na ito. At saka ibang iba kasi 'yung istorya, ibang-iba 'yung character, at saka very physically demanding din siya. Ang daming paghahandang gagawin. Ayaw ko naman na ilabas siyang half-baked kasi hindi siya napagtuunan ng pansin dahil hinahabol mo yung airtime mo so okay na rin ako,” Santos added.

Actor Sam Milby, who will be working opposite Santos in the show, shares Santos's feelings about the delay.
“The airing, 'yung plano was around this time so okay naman. Siyempre mas okay na paglabas, maayos, it’s prepared. Ayaw ko ng nagra-rush, nagmamadali din,” he said.

Maaaring isa sa mga inaabangang teleserye ng taong ito ang pagbabalik telebisyon ni Judy Ann Santos, ang seryeng Against All Odds kung saan makakatambal niya si Sam milby sa unang pagkakataon. Ibinalita noon na Oktubre ng taong ito ipapalabas ang serye ngunit nausog ito at sa susunod na taon na lamang ito ipapalabas. At nang matanong ng Push.com.ph si Sam tungkol dito, pinatotohanan niya ang balita. “Yes, it was actually. The airing, yung plano was around this time so okay naman. Siyempre mas okay na paglabas, maayos, it’s prepared. Ayoko ng nagrurush, nagmamadali din.” 

Kaya naman pinagtutuunan muna ni Sam ngayon ang kanyang dalawang pelikula: isang indie film at ang Star Magic movie kung saan makakatambal niya si Pokwang. “Nag-last day na kami. Nakakatawa yung istorya sa amin ni Pokwang.” At isa sa mga inaabangang eksena nga dito ay ang kanilang bath tub scene ngunit ayon kay Sam, “Hindi lang basta bath tub scene, madami. First time din ni Pokwang so basta abangan niyo.”

At nang kamustahin ng Push ang Teleserye Queen sa patuloy pa ring shoot ng kanilang drama, “Actually masaya kami sa set, kalmado lang very relaxed.” Ipinahayag niya din ang kanyang saloobin tungkol sa pagkakaurong sa ere ng kanilang programa. “Ako naappreciate ko na very honest yung management na hindi kakayanin i-show yung soap ng October. Ako rin naman, yung opinyon ko din naman, ayoko din naman mag-tape ng for airing kasi ‘di mo maseseryoso yung trabaho kasi lagi kang ngarag sa pag-arte, tapos hindi ka pwede mag-take two, mag-take three kasi for airing nga siya.” 

Nagsalita rin si Juday sa mga naranasan niya dati na kung maari ay hindi na maulit muli. “Ayoko kasi yung wala akong choice, hindi naman ako sa nagmamaldita noh pero ang tagal ko kasing ‘di umarte sa telebisyon kaya gusto ko pag lumabas yung soap na ginagawa namin, yung dekalidad yung ipapakita namin para worth naman yung paghihintay ng mga tao.”

Para kay Judy Ann, tama na rin ang naging desisyun na ito ng management. “Mas gusto ko na binigyan nila ako ng time manamnamn itong teleserye na ito. Atsaka-ibang iba kasi yung istorya, ibang-iba yung character, at saka very physically demanding din siya. Ang daming paghahandang gagawin. Kinumpirma ni KC Concepcion ang balitang hindi na siya parte ng Nothing Compares To You, ang pelikula ng Viva Films na pagsasamahan dapat nila nina Anne Curtis at Derek Ramsay.

Ang pagtuon ng kanyang atensiyon sa singing talent search na X-Factor at teleseryeng Against All Oddsang rason ng TV host-actress kung bakit hindi na siya tumuloy sa Nothing Compares to You.

“It’s really one of those things we talked about with Viva.

“Sabi ko, at this point, gusto ko yung work namin sa X-Factor, na kung saan-saang lupalop ng bansa nakakarating.

"And I said, parang I would like to focus on the ABS teleserye. I love the script of the teleserye.

"Boss Vic was so kind, Viva was so kind to allow me," paliwanag ni KC sa panayam sa kanya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

LOST OPPORTUNITY. Naging matagumpay sa takilya ang pagsasama nina Anne at Derek, kasama si Cristine Reyes, sa pelikulang No Other Woman. Hindi ba nanghihinayang si KC sa pinakawalan niyang oportunidad?

Sagot niya, “I love the tandem of me and Anne, I look forward to working with her. Si Derek naman, nakatrabaho ko na…

“But there are some things na timing is everything. At the same time, hindi porke’t nandiyan, it means it’s the best thing for you to do at the moment.

“I think it’s gonna be a great movie, papanoorin talaga siya ng tao.

“Probably kung sinuman ang papalit sa akin, meant to be talaga para sa kanya.

“I have a really good feeling about their movie. I wish them all the best."

Dagdag ni KC, "I would still love to work with Anne.

“Kung sinuman ang papalit sa akin would really love the role, it’s a very strong role.

“I’m at a point na gusto ko lang talaga mag-focus sa mga shows ko—it’s a personal choice.

“Saka I believe that pag merong door na nag-close, may isang magbubukas.

“Kumbaga, hindi dapat pinipilit ang isang bagay na hindi dapat.”

Sexy and daring ang tema ng Nothing Compares To You. May espekulasyon na baka hindi pa handa si KC sa ganitong klase ng role?

Ngunit paglilinaw niya, “No. Kasi my role in the teleserye is a little bit similar sa movie na dapat with Anne and Derek, so hindi dahil dun.

“Actually, kung ano ang makikita sa movie, it was still me in their mind, makikita naman nila sa teleserye."

AGAINST ALL ODDS. Tungkol naman sa teleseryeng gagawin niya para sa ABS-CBN, ang Against All Odds, makakasama ni KC dito sina Judy Ann Santos at Sam Milby.

Sabi pa ni KC, “I really chose to focus on the soap. Yung mga taong nagtatrabaho dito sa show, madami silang ginagawa. 

“I wanted to take things a little bit more kalmado lang this year. Gusto ko i-enjoy yung mga ginagawa ko.

“Being with Ate Juday is unexpected, nag-meeting na rin kami with Sir Deo [Endrinal] sa ABS…

“At they really gave me an assurance that this is different from anything I’ve done. Nasa kanila talaga yung trust ko dito.”
