Sam admitted that he lost a little bit of his musical side when he started acting, which is why he hardly ever finishes his songwriting endeavors. “Si Yeng (Constantino), nakita ko siya pwede siya maggitara at gumawa ng song on the spot, ako hindi talaga. Yung‘Pushing Me Away’ bigla ko lang naisip habang naglalakad ako sa harap ng library sa New York. Then when I got home I tried it with the guitar. Mas madali sa akin magsulat ng song kapag malungkot ako or heartbroken or medyo may galit or bitterness.”
Sam said he actually believes in falling in love with the right girl at the right time. “Anne was still my last (girlfriend). I’d like to have someone special. But when I fall in love and have a girlfriend, gusto ko nakikita ko yung sarili ko sa kanya for long term and I haven’t found a girl na ganon. I have been on dates. Yung mgafriends ko pinapakilala ako to certain girls. Pero para sa akin gusto ko dire-diretso, ayoko ng may duda sa umpisa. Gusto ko excited ako from the start.”
In the meantime, Sam is happy to be back in the music scene and be able to perform his own songs during concert tours and mall shows. “Music talaga ang forever first love ko, so that’s one thing I would never give up. I enjoy singing kahit may stage fright ako kapag nagpe-perform.” Some of the original tracks found in his album include “Hindi Kita Iiwan” (OST of Koreanovela My Fair Lady), “Your Love” (duet with Marie Digby), and “Be Mine” (composed and produced by Richard Poon).
