Sam Milby still hopes to pursue his 'American dream'

Kapamilya heartthrob Sam Milby is not about to ditch his dream of making it big abroad. Almost two years ago, Sam temporarily moved to New York to audition for shows and he managed to impress an American TV network executive in one of his US tours.

According to a recent interview on the set of Kimmy Dora 3, Sam still hopes to try his luck in Hollywood and he recognizes the fact that an indie film might just be his ticket to reach that dream. "I would love that and I think what's great about the indie movies especially here in sa Pilipinas is that they're getting international recognition and I think one of the biggest successes in indie movies also is On the Job," he explained.

Sam, who unleashed his action star side in the third installment of the Kimmy Dora franchise, added that indie films, just like OTJ that received rave reviews abroad and was even optioned for a remake in the US, is "definitely opening doors.

"Especially in Hollywood they're looking for diversity especially with Asians. They're not looking for the typical na gwapo na white. They're really looking for diversity and that was what I was told when I was doing auditions in the States na 'yun talaga ang hinahanap nila. It's a really good time right now to do indie movies and hopefully use that as a gateway," the actor said.

Sam said he hopes to do at least one indie film per year because "Sa indie talaga and mas malawak 'yung the field that you're able to explore. You know a lot of times 'yung mga directors diyan they are very open sa mga ideas mo and it's a great way to grow."

Among the indie films that Sam starred in the past are Third World Happy, Cul de Sac, and the Adolf Alix Jr.-helmed Death March...
