During the time when he was abroad, Sam said Ada started training at the Philsports Arena (formerly ULTRA) in Pasig near their home and eventually ended up joining the team. The team will represent the country this weekend in a game versus Singapore at the International Philippine Ladies 15s Rugby Football Challenge at the Cebu International School in Cebu City on June 2.
Sam said he is proud that Ada will be part of such a historic sports event which will also be the first-ever female rugby match held in the country. “I’m glad that she was able to find a rugby team kasi yun ang gusto niya talaga.I never actually thought there was a rugby team here sa Pilipinas,” he said.
Sam said there is even a chance he might be able to watch his sister’s game this Saturday as he will be in Cebu as well for a show. “I am very supportive of her. Kasi yan talaga ang gusto niya. I really plan on watching one of her games soon,” he added.
The Lady Volcanoes will part of the first 15s Asian Rugby Football Union tournament which will be held from June 14 to 16 and will also include countries like Thailand, Laos, and Singapore.
The Kapamilya heartthrob, who will be busy working on a new teleserye soon, had one message of support for his sister and the team. “Galingan niyo, kaya niyo yan,” he said after watching the premiere of Born To Love You last May 29 at SM Megamall.
