MARIA Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion, also known as simply KC and one of the most sought-after actresses and celebrity endorsers, celebrated her 26th birthday last April 7. A simple gathering was hosted by her family, friends and colleagues in the weekly talk show, The Buzz.It only seems like yesterday when the legendary makeup artist Fanny Serrano asked me to do KC’s hair during her first guest appearance at the Shrine Auditorium with Megastar mom, Sharon Cuneta. I think she was about 16 years old that time and I remember her performing a couple of songs for the first time. She has her own style ands I felt her strong charisma even back then.
Some few years ago, I wrote about KC’s European experience, which was documented in a TV special titled, From Pinas to Paris. In spite of her fame and wealth, she chose to be on her own and lead a regular life in France. Her mother Sharon did her best in shielding her precious daughter away from the inquisitive eyes of show business. Although it was a tough decision for both of them, her life in the foreign land paid off. It made her more humble and down to earth.
One of the most beautiful stars in Philippine showbiz, KC has the face that any audience can’t get enough of. She also constantly does her best in all aspects of her career—hosting singing and acting. Her recent top caliber performance in MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya) episode was a revelation! She garnered very impressive and rave reviews for her strong performance that made her a force to reckon with.
Now we can see her on films and television without the shadow of her parents Sharon and Gabby. Totally on her own, KC is moving to a new condo at The Fort.
“I want to be independent and positive ang effect sa’kin kasi mas naging balanced ang buhay ko. It’s true you get to know yourself better when you move out of your comfort zone. I realized that parang training ’yung five years of studies ko in Europe where I did my own household work,” she shared.
As a National Ambassador Against Hunger of the UN’s World Food Programme, KC’s countless humanitarian efforts to help the needy is just so inspiring. Hollywood may have Angelina Jolie but we are so blessed to have our very own KC Concepcion, a top celebrity extending her arms to help the unfortunate individuals not just in the Philippines, but all over the world.
Many of the showbiz insiders and followers was surprised when top actor Piolo Pascual announced to the whole world how much he loves her. Piolo and KC are in a relationship since last October. They are both very spiritual and I know that God is the center of their relationship. As for marriage, she said that they have no plans yet.
“I’m still enjoying my life now.I’m still growing. Feeling ko, hindi pa rin naman niya gusto. But he’s 34. Men are like wine. They get better with age. My lolo nga was in his 60s when my mom was born. Look at what happened, she became a Megastar,” she added.
KC is currently filming her new film with Sam Milby entitled, Forever and a Day. She is also part of ABS-CBN’s new soap, Alta, playing the role of a rebellious socialite, with Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo.
KC will be here in Los Angeles for the Star Magic Tour shows in Shrine Auditorium LA, San Jose Center, and Lincoln Center, New York on April 15, 16 and 23 respectively. With her are 17 other stars including her dad, Gabby Concepcion.
