MANILA - "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," the 2013 drama series starring Judy Ann Santos, is set to air in three international territories, producer ABS-CBN announced Friday.

The Primetime Bida series, which concluded its local run last August 23, was among the ABS-CBN programs showcased at the recent Asian Television Forum in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Titled "Against All Odds" for its international audience, the soap has been sold for airing in Malaysia, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Starring Santos as battered wife Anessa Panaligan, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" was billed as an advocacy series for women's rights, as it centered on the character's journey from being a submissive partner to a powerful woman bent on revenge and reclaiming her son.

It also starred KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, Tirso Cruz III, Coney Reyes, John Estrada, Joseph Marco, Empress Schuck, and Mylene Dizon.

The series was under the direction of Malu Sevilla, Jerry Sineneng, and Tots Mariscal.

"Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" ended its three-month run with its highest-ever rating of 32.5% across the country, according to Kantar Media, as measured using a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes.

"We are very glad to end 2013 with strong international sales of our drama content," ABS-CBN Head International Distribution Leng Raymundo said in a statement....

Sam Milby talks about the challenges of playing a merman in ‘Dyesebel’

With his role as the merman Liro in Dyesebel, Sam Milby has admitted that speaking in pure Filipino would prove to be more difficult for him than donning the heavy monofin prosthetic as his costume.

This revelation was made by the Dyesebel star exclusively to Push.com.ph during the recently-concluded Kapamilya Trade Event. “Siyempre kasi wala namang sireno na nag-iingles. ‘Yun siguro ang pinaka-challenge sa akin more than yung pagsi-swimming,” he explained.

What were his preparations for the role? “‘Yung mga preparations ko siyempre merman ako dito so nag-training para maging merman. Monofin tapos ‘yung susuutin ko talaga na buntot, nag-practice rin kami for that. It was definitely difficult lalo na ‘yung actual na suot ng buntot. Hindi nakikita sa screen but it’s a bit heavy and hard to control,” he said.

But Sam reiterated that swimming with fins is something that he could eventually get used to and he sees it as a “fun experience.”

The Filipino-American singer is currently taking Tagalog lessons to hone his language skills. “Siguro naman kapag nag-start na ‘yung taping namin, I plan to have a tutor doon sa set para tutulungan niya ako,” he added...

Ex-skater Sam Milby throws full support for Martinez

MANILA – Sam Milby, who competed as a figure skater when he was still a young boy, is throwing his full support to Michael Martinez, the Philippines’ bet in figure skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Milby said he is extremely proud of Martinez for qualifying in the Olympics because he knows how hard it is to train as a figure skater.

“Nakaka-proud talaga," he said. "Bilang isang dating figure skater din, alam ko kung gaano kahirap talaga 'yung training and lahat. I wish him all the best. I wish I could actually ask him and talk to him.”

Like Martinez, Milby said he also dreamt of joining the Olympics.

“I did 12 years of training. I did home school kasi training. I really did intensive training and I never got to where he is going right now. I went to Junior Olympics two years in a row, which was a national event sa States. I got seventh place both times. But ito, ibang klase talaga. I never got close enough to make it there,” he said.

For a country with not so many skating rinks, Milby lauded Martinez for sticking to his passion to be able to represent the country in the international arena.

“Sana maraming magbigay ng tulong sa kanya. For someone that trained so much, 'yung pangarap talaga to represent the country, to bring pride, and for all the training that he’s gone through, sana naman tulong tulong tayo para sa kanya,” he said.

According to the “Dyesebel” actor, he will definitely help in the fund-raising for Martinez and he will also do his part in "trying to get people to show support for him."

.."Anne Curtis says being paired with her ex-boyfriend Sam Milby isn’t awkward at all.

In fact, the two had the chance to bond during their recent trip to Coron, Palawan for the taping of ABS-CBN's upcoming fantaserye Dyesebel.

In his Instagram account, Sam even posted a photo of Anne with the clear waters of Coron as background.

“Sam and I are okay naman. That’s a good thing. Siyempre, if we weren’t ok, we won’t be working together,” says the ABS-CBN actress.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with the Kapamilya star during the February 5 launch of Viva Films-PBO cable channel partnership with Skycable at Gateway’s Platinum Cinema. 

While Sam and Anne still have chemistry on screen, a real-life romance between the two isn’t in the offing since the latter is happily in a relationship at the moment. 

“It’s good for our followers before in Maging Sino Ka Man [2006-2007]. They’re very excited. It’s great to be able to make them happy.”..
