MANILA, Philippines — Sam Milby arrives at this interview complaining about the blisters on his hands.

“Ang hapdi ng kamay ko,” says the Fil-Am actor, showing both his hands.

Coming from a motocross practice, Sam has been religiously going to a race track in Bicutan in preparation for upcoming competitions. Last year, he won in two categories at the Philippine National Supercross Series Round.

He finished first place in the beginner’s class, and third place in novice class.

“I’m a speed demon,” he states, exhilarated. “I love the adrenaline rush. My dad raced and my two brothers also did motocross racing so it is really in my blood to ride.”

Sam has just recently rediscovered his love for riding. When he was 10 years old, his father gave him his first dirt bike. But at that time, he was more into figure skating.

“I didn’t really have the time to ride. I love driving though. I love the thrill. When I quit skating, I started to ride a lot more. Then may nagnakaw ng bike ko, so I stopped. I had no bike and for 10 years I couldn’t ride at all -- until last year. It was my first time to ride again,” relates Sam, who is now saving up for his own motocross bike.

It may be a fun sport for thrill-seekers like him, but it can be dangerous as well. Sam figured in a motocross accident while he was in the US for the holidays, almost breaking his collarbone. “If you really take it seriously, you have a 150 percent chance you’ll break a bone. You cannot do this sport and not have any accident,” says Sam.

Despite winning in competitions, he is not thinking of becoming a professional motocross rider.

“Because of my work as an actor, I can’t really push myself kasi kapag may nangyari sa akin, paano na ako magtatrabaho. Besides, I’m actually too old to pursue it now. Most kids start at five and by the time they’re 20 or 25 they’re already professionals. I don’t have the experience to actually pursue it. It’s one hobby that I really enjoy,” he explains.

Calculated risks
Sam may be a risk taker in his sports but he admits, he is never really been much of a risk taker in real life. His decision to leave his life in the US and stay in the Philippines to start on his own was quite a surprise even to him.

“I’m extremely surprised that I decided to stay here in the Philippines because I’m afraid to be alone. But I took that risk, which I didn’t really think I was going to do.”

Sam did not grow up with many Filipinos around. But he visited the Philippines several times before deciding to stay here for good to pursue a career in modeling and acting. He stayed with relatives in Bulacan and took the bus to Manila to answer casting calls and auditions. Results were not always encouraging, but all his determination and hard work have obviously paid off.

“I’m a person who likes challenges. Every day is a challenge. What I love about the job is that it’s very dynamic. With this job, you act like a different person, you go to places. It’s different every day, and I really like that. When people say bad things about me or when they discourage me, it just pushes me more. I’m the type of person who wants to learn. I’m always eager to learn.”

MANILA, Philippines - Actor Sam Milby shared his excitement over his upcoming television series and movie under Star Cinema.

"Magsisimula na 'yong movie namin ni KC. Malapit na," Milby told "Showbiz News Ngayon".
The hunk actor said that after doing the film, he will be taping for ABS-CBN's upcoming series.
Milby took a holiday break in the United States recently and admitted it was a nice feeling spending time with his family. He stressed, however, that he's now eager to go back to work.
"I love resting. Kung iisipin, minsan nasa bahay lang--ayaw ko, don't want to work. Pero actually I'm still doing a lot of work naman. It's not like I'm not doing anything," Milby ended.
Milby's last television series was "Idol" with Sarah Geronimo as the lead star. His last movie, on the other hand, was an indie film entitled "Third World Happy."

While remaining secretive about the real score between him and KC Concepcion, Piolo Pascual said he is not bothered by news linking his rumored girlfriend to other guys. KC has admitted being good friends with hunky actor Sam Milby and international Fil-American rapper Apl.de.Ap. The daughter of Sharon Cuneta is slated to do a movie with Sam as her new leading man.

Piolo clarified that he was actually the one who suggested to Star Cinema to pair KC with Sam since the two already are close in real life. “I can see that there’s a chemistry. Sam is a brother. They are so alike in so many ways. Kung iisipin mo bagay si Sam at KC kasi pareho sila ng ugali. Sam knows his place and also with Kristina. It’s very clear that they’re friends.”

But what if the film requires KC and Sam to do a kissing scene? Will Piolo be comfortable with it? “Artista tayo. Kahit ako naman nagkakaroon din ng kissing scenes. We have to know na character lang ‘yung ginagawa niyo,” he answered.

Sam Milby and KC Concepcion’s acrobatic production number was undeniably the most spectacular performance during Sharon Cuneta’s birthday concert at the Araneta Coliseum last January 11. Coming up with an unforgettable dance number has become KC’s trademark even in the previous birthday celebrations of the Megastar. But the addition of Sam as her partner was definitely a bonus for the audience that night. “Actually right before the number, medyo kinabahan kami kasi hindi kami nakapag-rehearseng maayos nung final rehearsal. I was really nervous pero it came out okay naman.  Everyone knows naman na nagta-tumbling ako, but this was different kasi may halong acrobatics.”

First in line is the ever so adorable Sam Milby who had fallen off his motorbike during his motocross practice. Sam Milby on my mind

I have not had time to write my thoughts here for a long time. During the day time, I´m at work and in the evenings  I write also to few forums and make updates of Sam. It takes time to search news about my Idol and assemble them here to read. It all started from my own desire to bring all the newspaper articles of Sam in one place. I´ve enjoyed so much, when I have read the writings and saw new pictures of him. He´s such a great guy. I have heard, that he is always so nice to everyone and he loves his fans. Some times they have meetings with Sam and I´ve seen so nice pictures of their appointments. I wish I could meet him some day and hug him. I also wish to see him on stage singing some of his favorite songs. I miss so much, because I live so far from Philippines. Maybe some day I travel to see all my new friends there.

It´s not so easy to communicate with people, who speaks different language than you, but thanks God we all speak also English. Sometimes it can cause confusion when you can not fully express your thoughts in your own mother tongue. I also would be much easier to me find new friends, if I could speak Tagalog, but I have found some, and whats best, they have met Sam many times. They all have taken me with open arms and I´m eternally grateful to them. I really appreciate it. They have shown me, how warm people lives in the Philippines, including Sam.

Soon Sam will start taping his new film with K.C. Conception. It´s their first movie together. I hope it´s a romantic drama movie, because he truly is the Prince of Romance and that role suits him very well. I look forward to the kissing scenes, because those belong to the romanticism and thats what I want to see.  K.C. and Sam are good friends and I think they have good chemistry together.

Sam is not just a Prince of romance. He has been in two indie films and he can play as drama as comedy. He has done many movies and TV-series with different leading ladies. Some may think, that just one and only leading lady is best for him,because we all have our favorites. However, I believe that a diverse actor have to work with different people, different leading ladies and get experience to work in different ways. I will always support all his leading ladies, because that also affects to his career. I think if you really love Sam, you also respects all his leading ladies. And most of his fans do so. A great guy have great fans! We all love you Sam! We all  love your work!

Nakabalik na sa bansa si Sam Milby mula sa kanyang bakasyon at mag-spend ng holidays sa Amerika. Naikuwento ni Sam sa SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon) ang aksidenteng nangyari sa kanya roon habang nagmo-motocross.

“Medyo mali ’yung take off ng jump. ’Yung bike may forward talaga, ’di ko na kinayang itaas ’yung harap, nahulog ako, face first,” seryosong kuwento ni Sam.

Hindi naman kailangang mangamba ng mga fans ni Sam dahil maayos na ang kondis*yon niya ngayon at hindi naman siya masyadong nasaktan sa nasabing aksidente.

“I’m doing fine. Kasi nung nasa ere ako. Alam ko na mahuhulog ako so na-prepare ko kamay, face first okay naman. May problema ako sa tuhod pero okay naman, medyo masakit pa rin. Practice lang ’yan. Mga one week after that may karera na, sumali na ako,” dagdag pa ni Sam.

Masaya si Sam kahit naaksidente siya sa Amerika dahil for the first time ay nakita at nakasama niya ang kanyang pamangkin. “Masaya dahil nakilala ko na ’yung pamangkin ko. Sobrang cute, adorable talaga. Happy baby. Kapag ako lang ang nakahawak tapos wala ’yung ate ko, umiiyak. Six months na ’yung baby,” kuwento pa ni Sam.
